It's not too impressive, but in this wood box, I have all that I need to do my lesson planning for the two classes I'm teaching at our homeschool co-op. Yes, I teach two writing classes. One class is called "Write your Own Book" for fourth through sixth graders. The other is "Write with the Best" for middle-schoolers.
Lesson planning has never been a strength for me, but I'm forcing myself to do it. I LOVE the "performance" aspect of teaching. You can see me waving my arms, jumping from kid to kid, pulling, extracting answers from kids. But planning? It seems boring. I have to convince myself that I will enjoy the performance all the more with a.. script!
I would never cut it in the public school system either. I believe in telling a child, "no, that's not the right answer" when it's not right; and "you can do better!!" when they have more talent than they're showing. The nerve of me! I figure these parents are trusting me with their children--not just to make them feel good--but to actually teach them something.
Here's another homeschooling mom who seems to be into planning. Check out Bona Vita. I'm not sure if it's inspiring or just plain intimidating. LOL. Seriously, she has a great reading list for her kids.

I have a 'wood box' too! My dh finds the label hilarious...'as if you wouldn't know' he says.
I'm not much of a planner either.
I am, however, seriously considering homeschooling my daughter. She's got a year of preschool ahead of her before she starts kindergarten and so I have some time to really do some research. I like the idea of a homeschooling co-op.
Tell me more!
