On the top of my blitz list for today was the dreaded task of: organizing the freezer.
I think I would rather iron than do the freezer; nevertheless, I forced myself to do the worst first. Everything else seems easier that way.
While I was talking to my Mom on the phone, she said, "those list things never work for me". The problem with the inventory lists is that you have to be diligent and update them often.
Once you lose sight of your freezer inventory, it's all too easy to hurl anything in there anywhere... yeah.. I do it too.
So, I searched around and found this great printable sheet from organized home.
I selected the PDF version of this:
freezer inventory/printable page from organized home. It looks pretty easy to update. There are little boxes beside each food item.
One slash equals=I have it.
Two slashes (forming an X) =I've used it.
I filled out the form with my goods, and now I'm putting it on the fridge. The next time I have the laminator running, I'll laminate a few copies, so it will be a reusable sheet. Give me a few vis-a-vis markers, and I'm good to go!
For those of you who need a visual image, I thought this idea was genius. It would take a little more creative time and energy, so I'll save that for a rainy day.

Oh yes, the freezer inventory. I used to have one of those. :) I lost track of things and began that "hurling" think you mentioned. A nice laminated sounds like it might be easier, though.
I have been going to the wrong blog...there you are!!! My freezer is always something to be tackled even after I tackled it!

I really do have: 3 freezers. I know. I know... I am unworthy of such extravagance. I have two refrigerators, each with a freezer plus a chest freezer. Somehow when we bought this house, we ended up with an extra fridge. I highly recommend it! Right now I have a turkey thawing in one fridge plus a bunch of potatoes and onions.
I think that there must be something in the air as I tackled my fridge today. :) My freezer is next on the to do list.

All of us here in Houston ended up tackling the freezer...and the fridge...and the extra fridge...when Hurricane Ike left us without electricity for 2 weeks!! The only up-side is my freezer got very organized after being depleted and bleached. Sigh.
Hmm I've tried variations on a theme for many a long year now with varying degrees of failure [I start off fine but twindle a bit as time goes on] Maybe I should make that my New Year's Resolution? [or would that damn it to failure before I even start?]
